OAKLAND, California, April 10, 2025 – GEI Consultants, Inc. is proud to be recognized with a Project of Merit award from the Climate Change Business Journal (CCBJ) for the development of That Dam Game!, a collaborative, climate-focused board game spearheaded by GEI’s Rebecca Verity and developed in partnership with Yuba Water Agency and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

As climate change accelerates extreme weather events—such as prolonged droughts and more intense floods—traditional approaches to dam management and stakeholder engagement are often challenged by competing priorities and complex tradeoffs.

That Dam Game! was designed to close that gap. Through immersive, scenario-based gameplay, participants must make strategic decisions on flood safety, drought response, and resilience investments, balancing immediate needs with long-term sustainability. The game creates a shared space for conversation, helping players from all backgrounds understand technical challenges and co-create solutions.

Praised for its effectiveness in both professional and community settings, That Dam Game! is part of GEI’s broader commitment to advancing climate change adaptation through education, innovation, and inclusive engagement.

“This recognition from CCBJ underscores our belief that climate resilience solutions must be collaborative, accessible, and grounded in real-world experience,” said Rebecca Verity.
